The Tampa Bay Buccaneers chose to solidify the line guarding Tampa’s newest import with their first round selection of Iowa OT Tristan Wirfs. The Bucs traded up one spot to #13 with the San Francisco 49ers, swapping out a 4th rounder for a 7th as well.

Tom Brady’s newest teammate rolled out his own red carpet for his mother to share the moment, and now he’ll be wearing red on Sundays.

Wirfs is a ready-to-start talent who clocks in at 6′ 5”, 322lbs. Draft reports across the board rave about his power and technique, as well as being ready to compete in the NFL after coming from the offensive line factory at Iowa.

Wirfs has won 2019 1st Team All-Big 10 honors along with being named 2019 Big 10 Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Wirfs was the fourth OL taken in the first round, behind Andrew Thomas (#4 overall), Jedrick Wills (10), and Mekhi Bector (11).

Wirfs fits a huge need for the Bucs at RT, although he is versatile enough to play inside at guard if needed.
